NVN Visits National Medal of Honor Museum

Scheduled to open in March 2025, the National Medal of Honor Museum hosted our executive director, Christine Sato-Yamazaki, General Eric Shinseki, Donna Cole, David Ono and Steve Sakanashi on a tour of the new Museum in Arlington, TX that will honor over 3,500 Medal of Honor recipients. Wearing hard hats, the group toured the construction zones of the interior and exterior of the 100,000 square-foot museum that included 31,000 square feet of exhibition space, a circular indoor/outdoor area featuring the wall of names, programming, theater and event space. It will be a beautiful and stunning museum that will provide a large outdoor area that overlooks the river. What was most impressive was the architecture, which was designed to show the main building lifted into the sky, symbolically representing the “lifting of the burden” of Medal of Honor recipients. The new museum will feature three Japanese American Medal of Honor recipients: Senator Daniel K. Inouye (WWII 442nd RCT), James Okubo (WWII 442nd RCT), and Hershey Miyamura (Korean War). The tour was hosted by Chris Cassidy, President/CEO, and Cory Crowley, Executive Vice President. The group then visited the Preview Center where they viewed objects and personal stories that will be highlighted at the museum.
